The Best DIY Laundry Detergent

October 10, 2016

I have finally found IT! The Best DIY Laundry Detergent, or rather “concoction”. It is even all-natural and pretty inexpensive. 🙂

Awhile back I had written a post on my favorite all natural laundry detergents. Well, as time has passed, I have come across some better products for our laundry.

Here are the items that I use on pretty much every load:

salsuds-cleaner-32oz_2Dr Bronner’s Castille Soap – this is a concentrated all-purpose cleaner made with plant-based surfactants, natural fir needle and spruce essential oils. There are no dyes or fragrances. I not only use it for my laundry but for all of my cleaning around the house. Literally, I clean every room with it including the floors!

This product is biodegradable and 100% cruelty free. It is literally magical!

Sal’s Suds is rated an A+ on the EWG and there is also a great dilutions cheat sheet that can definitely come in handy. Continue Reading…

Why We Love Coconut Oil – And How You Can Get It For FREE

March 17, 2016

(please note: this is a sponsored post, see disclosure)

If you know me or have followed my blog, you know that I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE, coconut oil. This stuff is truly a miracle product that is not only a multi-tasker but is all natural in every way! I literally buy this stuff by the gallon. 🙂

Whether you cook with coconut oil yet or not, you’ve probably heard of it. This pure white oil has become a household name for the health-conscious, and it’s popping up in everything from stir-fry recipes to vegan fudge. Coconut oil is the “it” ingredient of the moment.

Personally, I use coconut oil for:

  • makeup remover
  • face and body lotion (for the whole fam)
  • to grease pans for baking
  • in my coffee
  • oil pulling
  • DIY beachwaves spray for hair
  • cuts/rashes
  • homemade decongestant chest rub
  • natural sunscreen
  • diaper rash
  • cradle cap
  • yeast rashes
  • deodorant
  • pets

Other uses that I have not tried yet, but need to:

  • hair conditioner
  • hair mask
  • face mask
  • homemade lip balm
  • body mask

Bulletproof Coffee – WTF is the Big Deal?

March 6, 2016

The other day I was on Instagram and saw that Jessica Biel could not live without her Bulletproof coffee. Later that same day I was reading in my Thrive magazine (yes, it was from the Holidays) about the amazing uses for coconut oil including, yes….Bulletproof coffee. Coincidence? I think not!

So, of course I had to find out what the big deal was. If this was a new craze, I had to try it. I have to be in the know at least.

So, I did some research about MCT, coconut oil, etc. I quickly came to the conclusion that:

A) I would use coconut oil since it is all natural (MCT is man-made)
B) Anything to give me more energy while using natural ingredients….sign me the heck up!
C) You can also lose weight. Bonus! Since moving to Chicago, I have eaten my way through half the damn restaurants in this town, so it would not hurt to lose a few lbs.

I then knew I was not going to buy the stuff, only because I am cheap and will find a way to make the crap on my own.

I also wanted to make sure that I tried this stuff out for a while before I told my audience to try this. I wanted to make sure it did not make one crazy, psycho, or want to hurt others.

So, here is what I have learned, determined, and my modified recipe is below.

I am still alive and could not be happier!

January 17, 2016

Well, it has been awhile….

Our family moved to Chicago, sold a business, started a new job,  a new school and now it is 2016!

I have stopped blogging for a while because of all the fantastic changes. It has been quite a year for us and we would not change it for the world.

I was offered an unbelievable opportunity in Chicago with my current company and my husband decided to sell his business and be a stay at home dad.

There is not a day that goes by where he does not love being home with our two boys. At first I was so worried and felt so bad for him. He still does not understand why. Mainly, because it is a job I could never do.

I have no patience, get cabin fever like no other (that’s the Sagittarius in me) and am very career driven. I like to be the best at whatever I do….and to be honest, being a mother is one role that I constantly feel like I am failing at.
