all natural stainless steel cleaner

With the end of our kitchen/dining room renovation almost complete (praise the lord!), came the task of actually cleaning! I have never had stainless steel appliances until now (I feel sooo fancy!).

With that being said, I had to figure out how to clean the stuff, since little fingerprints tend to cover them very quickly.

I knew I did not want to buy the stainless steel cleaner, but make my own. So, I Googled away. I found this article and thought I would take a shot. My husband usually thinks I am crazy with all my homemade cleaners, and I am pretty sure he doubted me on this one. But….I was right as this really works and does a great job!

All you will need is white vinegar and olive oil! Continue Reading…

The Best Glass Cleaner, Ever!!

October 28, 2014

I had been on the search for a superb glass cleaner for almost a year. I stopped using Windex since it had some chemicals I was not too fond of and switched to Method’s Glass and Surface Cleaner, which smells fantastic! It still left streaks, though, and I would have to clean the surfaces multiple times. I would use paper towels, microfiber cloths, and even a regular dishcloth. Nothing seemed to work.

I started trying to make my own and finally stumbled upon this recipe from A Bowl Full of Lemons. I mean, come on, the title itself would definitely make you want to try it. I have to say, the name does not disappoint. This truly is the easiest to make, streak free, and cheapest window cleaner. The Best Glass Cleaner, Ever!!!!

All you will need is a spray bottle, white vinegar, water and lemon oil:

    • 16 oz Spray Bottle
    • 1/4 c. White Vinegar
    • 20 Drops of Pure Lemon Essential Oil (this will help cover up the vinegar smell)
    • Fill with warm Water
    • Shake well

The total cost is $.54!!! The vinegar would cost around $.37 as you can buy a 128 oz bottle at Giant Eagle for $2.99 on sale. I typically do not go organic for white vinegar that I use for cleaning.

The lemon oil is $.17 as you can buy a 1 oz bottle for around $4.96 on iherb. The brand NOW is a nice brand, I also buy mine at Lucky’s or Whole Foods. You can typically get 600 drops out of a 1 oz. (30 ml) bottle. Then, just reuse an old spray bottle that you have at home – free!

This cleaner does not leave any streaks and other than a slight vinegar smell, I have no complaints. For only $.54 a bottle and no streaks, this is hands down a fantastic deal!
