Homemade Brown Sugar Body Scrub

I love scrubs. Just the feeling after you use one and get out of the shower is AMAZING (unless you have fallen or slipped a few times beforehand)! I have been infatuated with scrubs since I was a teenager. I would use them on my face everyday and then a friend (who is also an esthetician) told me that using a scrub that often actually makes my oily skin more oily (who would’ve thunk?).

I also did not realize it, but many of the mainstream body scrubs for your face and body, have a ton of chemicals in them. For example, here is a list of the ingredients for Amber Blush Golden Sugar Scrub.

Why this Healthy Beauty App is a Must

The Environment Working Group or EWG for short, is a non-profit, non-partisan organization that is trying to protecting our health and the environment.  Their goal is to empower people to live healthier lives in a healthier environment. They have a team of scientists, policy experts, lawyers, and programmers who investigate and research on toxins, environmental health, food & agriculture, and water & energy.  They want to make sure someone is standing up for public health when government or industry will not.

EWG was co-founded by Ken Cook 20 years ago. He is a big influencer on many of our farm bills by drawing attention to the use of pesticides, cleanliness of our drinking water, and the sustainability practices of our farmers. He has also been a big advocate in pushing the labeling of the genetically engineered ingredients in our food. Continue Reading…
